"New"

   Hi,

I'm new to this board. I am a 4th generation (my mom, grandmother and great grandmother all have experienced bpd to differnt degreees) woman living with Bi-Polar Disorder. I have only recently in the last few years, come to terms with my illness, diagnoss, and accepted treatment. Now I have 2 children, my daughter who is almost 8, is showing signs of early onset bpd. I am seaking therapy and treatment resources, and I consider meds a last resort. Watching her struggle has me remembering aspects of my life that I never really examined in a clinical sence before. I am still in disbelief that all people don't experience the thoughts and feelings the way I do. Currently my daughter's status is acute, with some immediate intervention necessary. I am looking to this site and board to get resources to better address her education needs.

Thanks,
Monica

What a history! At least your daughter will have have a chance for early intervention. If you can give more information about the kinds of educational difficulties you're dealing with, I might be able to offer some suggestions.
