Time Magazine Tackles Juvenile Bipolar Disorder

The August 19th issue of Time Magazine (on newsstands today) features a cover story entitled, “Young and Bipolar.” The extensively researched article includes interviews with experts around the nation, including Demitri Papolos, M.D. director of research of the Juvenile Bipolar Research Foundation and co-author of The Bipolar Child.

Several writers and researchers for Time collaborated on the piece. The article covers theories about the cause of bipolar, current research studies, appropriate diagnosis and treatment and what it’s like to live with the disorder.

Also included are several profiles of youngsters with the disorder, and a very important worksheet adapted from The Bipolar Child that will help parents understand the symptoms of the illness and know when to seek help. Click here to access the article.
